On Friday, May 9, 2025, the Indian Premier League (IPL) announced an indefinite suspension of the 2025 season due to the growing military conflict between India and Pakistan.

The league has been halted, and players are heading back to their destinations, according to K.S. Viswanathan, managing director of the Chennai Super Kings.

The IPL 2025 PBKS-DC match was cancelled due to a Dharamsala outage.

A BCCI official told PTI, “It does not look nice that cricket goes on while the country is at war.”

Since Thursday’s match between the Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings in Dharamsala was called off halfway due to air raid alarms in nearby towns of Jammu and Pathankot, a shadow of uncertainty has hung over the destiny of the current edition.

Amid the rising tensions earlier in the day, the Pakistan Super League was rescheduled to the United Arab Emirates.

The Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings players are now travelling on road from Dharamsala to the nation’s capital.

At the time of suspension, four knockout games, including the final in Kolkata, and twelve league games remained to be played.
