Illinois Institute of Technology: The Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago is set to set up its campus in India. For this, the institute has also received approval from the University Grants Commission (UGC). It is the first US university to get approval from the UGC to set up a campus in India. Officials gave this information on Thursday.

The campus of Illinois in India will be set up in Mumbai in the autumn of 2026 and will offer undergraduate and postgraduate programs in high-demand fields such as computer science, engineering, and business.

Illinois Institute of Technology President Raj Echambadi said, "Illinois Tech was founded to make access to technology and innovation easier for all. Our new campus in India represents a profound opportunity to continue that great mission in serving millions of talented youth across India, empowering them to become global leaders ready to bring change." "We are proud to bring Illinois' rigorous, immersive experiential learning pedagogy designed for relevance to new students and to develop global leaders prepared to navigate the complexities of today's world," the president said.

Courses will be similar to the Chicago campus.
Echambadi explained that Illinois Tech's Mumbai campus will offer a curriculum similar to the university's Chicago campuses. This will include offering Illinois' renowned Elevate program, which guarantees all students access to real-world experiences such as internships, research, competitions, and other opportunities that are proven to uniquely prepare graduates for successful careers in global markets.

He added, "Courses will be delivered by internationally recruited faculty, including visiting professors from Illinois Tech's US campuses and faculty with global academic credentials. Indian students will gain access to career-accelerating opportunities without needing to relocate abroad, as well as benefit from cross-campus study options and global classroom experiences."
