Defence Minister Rajnath Singh met with the senior brass as India’s Operation Sindoor entered its third day to discuss the security situation after Pakistan’s escalation. Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh, Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan, and Defence Secretary RK Singh attended the meeting at South Block today.
The Indian Armed Forces began a huge onslaught to destroy the nine terror centres situated in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir as part of Operation Sindoor, which was initiated on the intervening night of May 6-7 to exact revenge for the lives of 26 tourists slain in the Pahalgam terror attack.
India conducted attacks against nine terror groups, including Hizb-ul-Mujahideen (HM), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), and Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir as part of the highly classified operation. Mehmoona Joya, Sialkot – HM, Markaz Ahle Hadith, Barnala – LeT, Markaz Abbas, Kotli – JeM, Maskar Raheel Shahid, Kotli – HM, Shawai Nalla Camp, Muzaffarabad – LeT, Markaz Subhan Allah, Bahawalpur – JeM, Markaz Taiba, Muridke – LeT, Sarjal, Tehra Kalan – JeM, and Syedna Bilal Camp, Muzaffarabad – JeM were among them.
Awantipura, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bhatinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj are among the military bases in Northern and Western India that Pakistan used drones and missiles to counterattack after the counterattack.
“Pakistan Armed Forces launched multiple attacks using drones and other munitions along the entire Western Border on the intervening night of 08 and 09 May 2025,” the Indian Army said in a statement released on X. Along the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistani forces also engaged in a number of cease fire violations (CFVs). The drone strikes were successfully repelled, and the CFVs received a suitable response. The Indian Army is still dedicated to defending the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty. Every malicious scheme shall be met with force.
Earlier, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described Operation Sindoor as a well-executed attack that killed a significant number of terrorists. “It was carried out successfully because our powerful and well-trained Armed Forces had top-notch equipment,” Singh said.
claiming that India has always acted as a responsible country, exhibiting extreme moderation and believing in communication as a means of resolving conflicts. However, “quality action” will be taken against anybody who attempts to abuse this constraint. He gave the country his word that no restriction would stand in the way of the government’s efforts to defend Indian sovereignty. He had said, “We are ready for such responsible reactions in the future as well.
