The franchise, which was playing against the Delhi Capitals in Dharamsala on May 8, released an official statement confirming that everyone associated with the team is safe and thanked various organizations and authorities for their coordinated support.

The were facing Delhi Capitals at the scenic HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala when the league’s temporary suspension was announced. PBKS had chosen to bat first and were in a commanding position at 122/1 in 10.1 overs. However, a sudden floodlight failure disrupted play. Shortly afterward, spectators were asked to vacate the stadium as security measures were tightened, and the Board of Control for in India (BCCI) officially announced a temporary halt to the 2025 IPL season.

In a statement shared on Instagram, Punjab Kings reassured fans that all players, coaches, families, and staff from both PBKS and DC were safely evacuated and relocated. The franchise specifically thanked the BCCI, IPL governing council, Indian Railways, police forces, and state authorities for their seamless coordination and response.

We extend our sincere thanks to the BCCI, IPL, Indian Railways, police forces, state authorities, and our internal operations team for their exceptional efforts in ensuring the safe and smooth relocation of players, coaches, families, and support staff from both Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals from Dharamsala to a secure location.”

The statement went on to highlight the pivotal role played by the franchise’s internal team, especially CEO Satish Menon, who has been a steady force behind PBKS’s operations throughout the season. The franchise also acknowledged its “wing commanders” for their calm and swift leadership during the emergency situation.

A major shoutout was given to the Ministry of Railways, which arranged a special train on extremely short notice to transport players, production crew, and commentators from Dharamsala to Delhi, ensuring safety without compromising on efficiency.
