New Delhi: The trailer launch of Aamir Khan’s much-awaited film Sitaare zameen par has been postponed in light of the escalating conflict between India and Pakistan. The release was originally scheduled for May 8. However, now it has been put on hold following recent cross-border strikes and heightened national security alerts.

This decision came shortly after the makers of Bhool chuk maaf announced that their film would not hit theatres amid the ongoing hostilities. The tension was triggered after Pakistan reportedly launched a series of drone, missile, and artillery strikes across Indian territory in retaliation to Operation Sindoor.

Aamir Khan Postpones Sitaare Zameen Par Trailer

A statement from Aamir Khan Productions confirmed the delay, expressing solidarity with the armed forces. “Concerning the ongoing developments at the country’s borders and the nationwide alert, Aamir Khan Productions have decided to postpone their upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par’s trailer. Our thoughts are with the brave hearts of our armed forces who remain steadfast in protecting the nation. As responsible citizens, we believe it is important to respond with unity and restraint during this time,” a source close to the production house told News9Live.

The film’s trailer had already faced one delay earlier, following the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam. Out of respect for the lives lost, Aamir had also opted out of a special premiere screening of Andaz apna apna, his cult comedy classic, which was re-released on April 25.

About Sitaare Zameen Par

Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare zameen par is set for release on June 20. The film features Aamir Khan and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles and is the official Hindi remake of the 2018 Spanish film Champions. The story centres around a self-absorbed basketball coach who is sentenced to community service and must train a team of children with disabilities—an experience that shifts his perspective on life.

Touted as a spiritual sequel to Khan’s 2007 directorial debut Taare Zameen Par, the new film continues to explore themes of inclusion and empathy through a fresh lens. It also marks the debut of ten young newcomers: Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.
