Amitabh Bachchan is known for his versatility and over the five decades in his career has given several hits. The movie which we are discussing was released in 1978 and became the highest-grossing film of the year. Names like Kader Khan Rekha Rakhee Gulzar and more were a part of the movie. If you are wondering which film we are talking about then it is none other than Muqaddar Ka Sikandar. Released in 1978 and directed by Prakash Mehra Muqaddar Ka Sikandar was a game changer for the year. The film featured Amitabh Bachchan in the lead role whereas the leading lady was Rekha. Amitabh and Rekhas chemistry was loved by the audience and the film hit the right spot in the audiences hearts. Made for Rs 1.3 crore the plot of Muqaddar Ka Sikandar was loved by the audience so much that it earned Rs 17 crore at the box office. As a result the film became a huge hit and the highest grosser of the year. The film was such a huge hit that people waited in lines to buy tickets. Not just that fans used to sleep on the streets so that they could stand in the first spot to buy the tickets claim media reports. Not only in India it was also an overseas blockbuster in the Soviet Union where the film grossed 6.3 million rubles (25.2 million ticket sales at an average 25 kopek ticket price) which was $7.96 million (₹98.9 million) in 1984. The film sold an estimated 67 million tickets in India and 25.2 million tickets in the Soviet Union for an estimated worldwide total of 92 million.
