Technology Technology: Apple Silicon was first introduced by the company in 2020, and the company changed its in-house chips from Intel over a period of two years, which ended in mid-2023. While the company is expected to launch new MAC computers with its next generation M5 chip later this year, its processor description – which is expected to come in 2026 and 2027 – has surfaced online. It is said that the company is also working on chips for its AI server to process AI requests in Cloud.
Apple Silicon Chip codenames leaked for M5, M6 and AI servers – According to a report by Bloomberg, Apple is working on its M6 chip, which will power its MAC computer starting in 2026. The codename of this processor is Komodo, and it is likely to come on Apple’s next generation MacBook Pro and iPad Pro model one year after this year’s M5 chip arrives.

According to the report, Apple is also developing its seventh generation M7 chip, which is internally referred to as a borneo. If there is any indication from the company’s previous release schedule, Apple may launch an updated MAC computer equipped with M7 chips in 2027. The report also mentions another chip in development, whose codename is ‘Sotra’. This is called “advanced Mac chip”, but there is no additional knowledge about how it will vary from other Apple Silicon processors or when it will be unveiled.

According to the report, Apple is also developing an in-house chips for its AI server. While many apple intelligence features are designed to run on the user’s device, the company will also offload some AI requests and process them remotely on its server. These servers are expected to switch to dedicated chips instead of using Apple’s MAC chips. The biggest advantage of these new AI server ship would be the alleged number of CPU and GPU core-which is eight times more than the number of core available on the top-of-the-line M3 ultra chip. The project is named ‘Baltra’ in the Cupertino company and it can be completed in the next few years.
