A soldier lost his life on Saturday at the Udhampur district's Air Force station in Jammu and Kashmir after being struck by debris from a Pakistani drone. The drone was successfully intercepted and destroyed by the Indian Air Force's air defense unit.
This incident occurred just before India and Pakistan announced a ceasefire to halt their military operations. Following the missile strikes on May 7 against nine terrorist locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir in retaliation for the Pahalgam terrorist attack, military activities had intensified.
The soldier was on duty at the Udhampur Air Force station when the Pakistani drone launched its attack. Officials reported that while the Indian air defense system effectively neutralized the drone in mid-air, the soldier was caught in the wreckage, sustaining severe injuries that ultimately led to his death.
Rajasthan's Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma paid tribute to the fallen soldier and expressed condolences to his family. In a post on social media, he remarked, 'The news of the martyrdom of Shri Surendra Singh Moga, a brave son of Rajasthan from Jhunjhunu, while fulfilling his duty to national security at the Udhampur Air Force station is extremely sorrowful.'
