Amid rising Pakistan-India tensions, filmmakers have accelerated the production of propaganda films. One such project is the sequel to India’s famous propaganda film Border which will feature Sunny Deol, Diljit Dosanjh and Varun Dhawan.
While the roles of Sunny Deol And diljit dosanjh was alredy confirmed, Varun Dhawan’s character had remained a mystery until now.
Sunny Deol will reprise the role of Major Kuldeep Singh Chandpuri while Diljit Dosanjh will play Air Force officer Nirmal Singh Sekhon and Ahan Shetty will appear as a Navy commander.
However, details about Varun Dhawan’s role had been kept secret for a long time. Now, that mystery has been unveiled.
According to reports, Varun Dhawan will portray the role of Major Hoshiar Singh who participated in the 1971 India-Pakistan war. He was awarded India’s highest military honor, the Param Vir Chakra and was later promoted to the rank of Colonel.
Before the shoot began in mid-January in Jhansi, Madhya Pradesh, Varun underwent two months of intense physical training.
The report adds that Varun met with designer Sheetal Sharma for costume trials and spent time with real Indian army officers to better understand their lives and experiences. He also celebrated Army Day with the troops.
It was also revealed that the film’s team spent an entire year preparing before the shoot to ensure that every detail was as close to reality as possible.
Varun’s character arc will depict his journey from his village Sisana in Haryana to joining the military and eventually participating in the 1971 war.
His physical training included three hours of daily cardio, strength-building exercises, weapons handling and ammunition management.
According to reports, Varun’s introductory scene will be a high-octane action sequence involving heavy weaponry, choreographed by renowned Hollywood action director Nick Powell.
