In a recent announcement, directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru revealed that Pakistani actress Mawra Hocane will no longer be part of the upcoming film 'Sanam Teri Kasam 2'. This decision comes amid rising tensions between India and Pakistan.
The directors expressed their disappointment regarding the lack of response from Pakistani actors regarding the recent acts of terrorism linked to Pakistan, particularly the incidents in Pahalgam. They emphasized that the silence from these actors is troubling and their previous comments about India are seen as inappropriate.
They stated, “Any form of terrorism, regardless of its origin, should be condemned without hesitation. It is particularly disheartening to witness the silence or negative remarks from certain actors who have enjoyed success and support in India but have not spoken out against terrorism targeting India. Some have even criticized India’s rightful actions to combat terrorism. Therefore, we fully back our government’s stance. Our nation comes first. Jai Hind.”
In a related development, actor Harshvardhan has also chosen to withdraw from the sequel if the original cast remains unchanged.
On his Instagram Stories, he shared, “I appreciate the opportunity I had, but given the current situation and the comments made about my country, I have decided to respectfully step away from 'Sanam Teri Kasam 2' if the previous cast is retained.”
His comments were directed at the casting of Mawra Hocane, which has drawn attention from her fans following the recent escalations between the two nations.
