WhatsApp is constantly working on new AI-powered features to improve the experience of its users. Recently, a feature tracker has reported two new features in the beta version of the app, which are message summary and AI-generated chat wallpaper. Apart from this, WhatsApp has also started testing themed prompts for status updates on both iOS and Android.
Message Summary Feature - According to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on an AI-based message summary feature in Android beta version 2.25.15.12. The purpose of this feature is that when a user leaves many unread messages in a group or chat, i.e., you do not read the message, then he will see a button "Summarise with Meta AI". On clicking this button, Meta AI will summarize those messages so that the user can quickly understand the main points of the conversation. Meta's new private technology will be used in this process, which processes the data while taking care of the user's privacy. The company claims that this does not affect end-to-end encryption.
AI-Generated Chat Wallpapers- The second feature that is in development is Create with AI, an AI-powered wallpaper generation tool. Users will be able to generate custom images by entering text prompts in the Wallpaper section of WhatsApp Settings, which they can use as their chat background. The feature will be based on Meta AI's image generation model and will also allow users to adjust their prompts to get better and preferred results.
"Prompts" feature in status updates- While the AI-powered features are still in testing, WhatsApp has started rolling out a new feature for some users, which is Status Prompts. This feature has started appearing in WhatsApp's iOS version 25.14.77 and Android beta version 2.25.15.13.
In this, users can add themed prompts with buttons like Add Yours in the status, as already present in Instagram and Facebook. For example, a user can create a collage of top photos of March and post it as a status, and other users can add their photos using the Add Yours button.
