ISRO's Commitment to National Security

During a recent convocation at the Central Agricultural University in Imphal, ISRO Chairman Dr. V Narayanan emphasized the role of satellites in safeguarding the nation. He revealed that ten satellites are operational around the clock, dedicated to enhancing the safety and security of Indian citizens.

Dr. Narayanan highlighted India's emergence as a 'vibrant space power,' projecting that the nation will establish its first space station by 2040. He noted that India has successfully launched 433 satellites from 34 different countries into orbit.

His remarks come in the context of ongoing military tensions between India and Pakistan, particularly following the launch of Operation Sindoor on May 7, aimed at dismantling terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to a recent terror attack.

He further stated, 'To ensure our country's safety, we must utilize our satellites effectively. Monitoring our extensive 7,000 km coastline and the northern borders is crucial, and this can only be achieved through satellite and drone technology.'

Additionally, the Indian Space Research Organisation is working on a satellite designed for G20 nations to assess climate change, air pollution, and weather patterns.

Dr. Narayanan concluded by praising the remarkable progress India has made since gaining independence.
