In a significant counter-espionage operation, the Punjab Police on Sunday arrested two individuals — including a woman — for allegedly leaking classified information about Indian Army movements to a Pakistani intelligence handler linked to the Pakistan High Commission in Delhi.

Who Was Arrested?
  • Guzala, 31, a resident of Malerkotla
  • Yameen Mohamad, also from Malerkotla
Both were nabbed after a targeted intelligence operation, according to DGP Gaurav Yadav.
The Espionage Network
  • Guzala was reportedly in direct contact with a Pakistani official posted at the High Commission in New Delhi.
  • She admitted during interrogation to having shared confidential military information in exchange for money, receiving ₹30,000 via UPI in two installments — ₹10,000 and ₹20,000.
  • Police recovered two mobile phones believed to contain incriminating evidence.
  • Yameen Mohamad was later arrested based on Guzala’s confession, suspected of acting as a local conduit.
Financial Trail & Cross-Border Links

The arrested duo were allegedly:

  • Paid by Pakistan-based handlers to transmit sensitive information.
  • Involved in routing payments to additional local operatives under instructions from the Pakistani handler.
Wider Espionage Crackdown

This arrest follows a related case in Amritsar, where two others — Falaksher Masih and Suraj Masih — were caught spying for Pakistan by sharing photographs and intelligence related to Army cantonments and Air Force bases.

Police Statement

“This operation marks a significant step in dismantling cross-border espionage networks and reinforces our commitment to national security,” said DGP Yadav.

The Pakistani official involved has been named in the FIR, but the police have not disclosed the identity yet. Authorities are now tracking the financial network and searching for more operatives connected to this ring.
