An anime adaptation of Shiki’s light novel, An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess, has been announced. The anime will premiere in 2026.

Junichi Yamamoto , best known for Why Raeliana Ended Up at the Duke's Mansion, is directing the anime. Studio Ashi Productions is in charge of the animation. Miki Matsumoto is adapting Wan Hachipisu's character designs for animation, and Akiko Inoue is taking care of script writing and series composition.

The original story also has a sequel. It is called An Observation Log of My Wife Who Calls Herself a Villainess, and it is every bit as good as its prequel. Hopefully, this will also get an anime adaptation in the future.

What is An Observation Log of My Fiancée Who Calls Herself a Villainess about
The story follows the brilliant and always bored Crown Prince Cecil Glow Alfostar . Everything in life comes too easily for him. That is, until he meets his fiancée, Bertia Evil Nochesse , a chaotic ball of energy who proudly claims she’s the villainess in an otome game. And now, for the first time in his life, the prince finds himself captivated. And it is not because of politics or courtly affairs, but by this adorable, self-proclaimed villainess who keeps turning his world upside down.

Unlike most otome isekai , which are told from the POV of the reincarnated villainess, this series flips the script. Here we experience everything through the eyes of the native prince. This change of POV makes a huge difference. It’s hilarious watching Cecil try to make sense of Bertia’s weird game-world logic and take her seriously, even when everyone else thinks she’s just a delusional airhead.

Bertia is insanely lovable, and Cecil’s deadpan reactions to her antics are pure gold. If you’re into otome isekai with a smart twist, this one is a must-watch. It’s short, hilarious, never drags, and wraps up neatly—what more could you want?
