Ongoing Vigilance of Indian Army
Despite a ceasefire between India and Pakistan, the Indian Army remains on high alert due to Pakistan's unpredictable behavior. Authorities have issued a stern warning that any further hostile actions will lead to direct conflict. Following an attack in Pahalgam, the Indian Army shared details of 'Operation Sindoor' on their social media, showcasing how Indian soldiers are thwarting Pakistan's attempts at the border, often at the cost of their lives. During this period, several soldiers from the Indian Army and security forces made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation.
The body of Border Security Force (BSF) Inspector Mohammad Imtiaz, who was martyred during heavy firing from Pakistan in the RS Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir, was brought to Patna on Monday. His son, Imran Raza, stood silently at the airport. Imtiaz was stationed at the international border in the RS Pura sector. Speaking to reporters, Imran expressed pride in his father and saluted all those who sacrificed their lives for the country. He mentioned, 'My father was a strong man. I last spoke to him on May 10 at 5:30 AM. He was injured and succumbed to his injuries later that evening.' After receiving a guard of honor from security personnel, Imtiaz's body was taken to his home in Narayanpur village, where he will be cremated with full state honors. Bihar's opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav and several officials were present at the airport. Imran called for Pakistan to be taught a lesson for its terrorist activities, stating, 'The government should respond decisively so that no son has to lose his father again.'
In Jaipur, the final rites of Surendra Kumar, a soldier from Jhunjhunu who was martyred in a Pakistani attack, were conducted with military honors on Sunday in his native village. Many mourners bid farewell with heavy hearts. Kumar, an Assistant Medical Sergeant in the Indian Air Force, was killed at Udhampur Airport during the attack. His body was transported from Delhi to his village, where a ceremonial procession took place before his cremation. His eight-year-old son Daksh performed the last rites. Thousands attended the funeral, chanting slogans in honor of Kumar. Government officials, including Deputy Chief Minister Premchand Baidwan and several ministers, were present to pay their respects.
A Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service officer, Raj Kumar Thapa, was also honored with state respect during his funeral after being killed by Pakistani shelling. Officials confirmed his death occurred when mortar shells landed in his residential area in Rajouri. His body was transported to his residence in Jammu, where he was cremated. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the grieving family to express condolences and praised Thapa's contributions to the region's development.
The Andhra Pradesh government announced a compensation of ₹50 lakh for the family of soldier M. Murali Naik, who was martyred during cross-border firing in Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir. His body was brought to his home in Sri Sathya Sai district, where Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan paid tribute. Kalyan announced an additional ₹25 lakh from his side and expressed solidarity with the family. The Chief Minister also promised five acres of agricultural land and a government job for Naik's family after cabinet discussions.
Rifleman Sunil Kumar, who was critically injured in cross-border firing, received a tearful farewell in his village near the international border. Kumar, aged 25, was serving in the 4-JAKLI regiment and was injured during an attack in the RS Pura sector. His body was brought back to his village, where hundreds gathered to pay their respects. Kumar's family, including his parents, were visibly emotional during the farewell. The village mourned the loss of a young man who had aspired to serve the nation.
In Udhampur, a soldier was martyred after being struck by debris from a Pakistani drone that was successfully intercepted by the Indian Air Force. This incident occurred shortly before a ceasefire was announced. The soldier was on duty at the air force station when the drone attack happened. Rajasthan's Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma expressed his condolences and honored the soldier's sacrifice.
Major Pawan Kumar was honored with full state honors during his funeral in his native Kangra village, Himachal Pradesh, after being martyred in Poonch. His son lit the funeral pyre, and the atmosphere was filled with grief. Many officials, including the Speaker of the Himachal Pradesh Assembly, paid their respects. Chief Minister Sukhu acknowledged Kumar's supreme sacrifice for the nation, stating that the country will always remember his bravery.
Another soldier, BSF Constable Deepak Chimangakhm, succumbed to injuries sustained during cross-border firing in Jammu. The BSF confirmed that he was critically injured on May 10 and passed away on May 11. The BSF expressed deep condolences to his family and honored him with a tribute at their headquarters.
