New Delhi: Within days of the ceasefire, a political warfare over Operation Sindoor has erupted between the BJP and Congress with the ruling side hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for delivering on his promise of taking out revenge for the attack and the Opposition accusing the government of taking credit for the sacrifice made by the soldiers.
BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra, while addressing a press conference at the party headquarters, said that 100% objective was achieved by the Indian forces through Operation Sindoor. "It is the first such instance in the world where such decisive action, in this case striking at the heart of Pakistan, was taken by one nuclear-armed nation against another," Patra said. He said Modi had vowed that India would take out terrorists in their homes and tear down the terror sites. "PM Modi's decision and our armed forces' indomitable courage have razed the terror sites to the ground. It was a promise by Modi," he said.
The kind of military and non-military action India has taken is unprecedented and has sent a decisive message in its war against terrorism, he said. Even Islamic countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE have backed out, and Pakistan stands isolated globally, Patra claimed, adding that India has shown that no part of the neighbouring country is beyond its reach. He said the objective of Operation Sindoor was to dismantle the terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan as announced by Prime Minister Modi in Bihar.

Meanwhile, the Congress on Monday again questioned how President Trump announced the ceasefire between India and Pakistan and whether there was a deviation from the Shimla Agreement, allowing third-party mediation on the Kashmir issue. Addressing the party briefing on Monday, senior Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel hit out at the BJP for taking credit for Operation Sindoor.
"They (BJP) tried to take credit for the armed forces' sacrifices. In the fight against terror, we need nationalism, not politics," he said, adding that the past Congress government too had acted firmly.
"In 1971, Indiraji had shown that India would not bow before anyone. Today, the armed forces are proving the same and the Congress stands shoulder to shoulder with our armed forces," he said.

Questioning Trump announcing the ceasefire, Baghel claimed that the nation felt humiliated and cheated over it.
"The way Trump announced a ceasefire post-Operation Sindoor has left the country feeling cheated and insulted. There are questions about it in everyone's mind. Has the Shimla Agreement been annulled?" he said.
