Suspense crime, Digital Desk : While there is still uncertainty surrounding the suspended IPL 2025 season, the Gujarat Titans have taken a major step forward by resuming practice. Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, the team conducted a full nets practice on Sunday, May 11, at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium. As per reports from the team and the Gujarat Cricket Association, this session was over three hours long, commencing at 5:30 PM and concluding just before 9 PM.

Remarkably, international names like Kagiso Rabada and Sherfane Rutherford trained alongside leading Indian names such as Shubman Gill and Mohammed Siraj. The players elected to stay back instead of departing the city because of the recent ceasefire along with rising speculation regarding an early return of the league. The Gujarat Titans currently lead the IPL standings with 16 points from 11 matches and are vying for a Top-2 finish.

Ricky Ponting and his associates, Brad Haddin and James Hopes, are now residing in India as the staff overseas players return to the Punjab Kings camp. This directly conflicts with former reports in Dharamsala, where it was suggested that foreign personnel opted not to stay due to increasing border conflicts causing the PBKS-DC match cancellation.

To accommodate all personnel involved in the IPL, the BCCI chartered a plane from Dharamsala to Delhi. Ponting and his support staff chose to remain in the capital while a lot of international players headed home. The franchise still holds on to six overseas players: Josh Inglis, Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Azmatullah Omarzai, Aaron Hardie, and Xavier Bartlett.

In a issue, Australian Mitchell Owen, set to play in replacement of Glenn Maxwell, finds himself stuck in Dubai due to his unfinished travel paperwork. After completing his PSL stint, he was anticipated to link up with the squad, but now his join date will be contingent on his visa being granted.

Punjab Kings are performing strongly in the tournament with 15 points from 11 games and currently sit third on the table. Their prospects for a Top-2 finish are favorable. Nevertheless, their final standing might be contingent on the decision made by the BCCI concerning the unfinished match in Dharamsala. It is still uncertain whether it will lead to the allocation of shared points or a replay.

There hasn’t been any public announcement coming from the BCCI regarding the IPL resumption as of May 11. Secretary BCCI Devajit Saikia disclosed that within 48 hours after a high-level meeting, stakeholders will be updated. There is a critical meeting scheduled for Monday, May 12, where representatives from BCCI and the central government are expected to discuss the plan in detail regarding the remaining 16 matches which include four playoff games.
