New Delhi: India pacer Mohammed Siraj shared a heartfelt message for his superhero Virat Kohli after the star batter announced his retirement from Test cricket. The two share a close bond with Siraj having made his Test debut under Kohli’s captaincy. For Siraj it wasn’t just a farewell to a teammate—it was an emotional tribute to a leader who believed in him from the very beginning. Mohammed Siraj took to Instagram to share an emotional note for Virat Kohli after the batting legend announced his retirement from Test cricket. The post was more than just a tribute—it was a message filled with gratitude and admiration for the man who played a key role in shaping Siraj’s journey in red-ball cricket. Virat Kohli finishes his Test career as the fourth-highest run-scorer in the format trailing only behind Sachin Tendulkar (15921 runs) Rahul Dravid (13265 runs) and Sunil Gavaskar (10122 runs). Kohli accumulated 9230 runs at an impressive average of 46.85 with 30 centuries and 31 fifties across 210 innings including a highest score of 254*. He also holds the record for the most Test runs by an Indian captain with 5864 runs in 68 matches (113 innings) at a remarkable average of 54.80 which includes 20 centuries and 18 fifties. Kohli’s final Test outing came during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Australia where he struggled to make an impact after his brilliant century in the first Test. He finished the series with 190 runs from five matches as Australia clinched a 3-1 victory marking their first win over India in the Border-Gavaskar series in 10 years.
