Napoli have reportedly identified a possible long-term replacement for target , as Antonio Conte tries to strengthen his forward line this summer.

Osimhen, 26, has spent the 2024/25 season on loan at Galatasaray after falling out of favour at Napoli. Since his move to Turkey, the Nigerian has scored 33 goals in 37 matches.

Although Osimhen is set to return to Napoli at the end of his loan spell in the summer, it doesn't appear that he has a future at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona. Reports have circulated that he is going to leave Naples on a permanent deal, and he has a £59million release clause in his contract.

He has been linked with a stunning move to Chelsea, as Enzo Maresca's side look to strengthen up front. While there hasn't been concrete speculation that the Blues are going to make a move for the former Lille man, he is an option, even if his supposed £10m per-year wage demands are correct.

But while there is talk regarding Osimhen, Napoli are looking at signing a replacement. According to Fabrizio Romano, Conte's men have submitted a proposal to Jonathan David. It's added that talks are advanced for the Canadian to arrive in Naples on a free transfer.

David, who has been tipped to make the move to the Premier League, is set to leave Lille at the end of his contract summer and has attracted interest from the likes of Napoli.

Speaking on his future back in March, David said: "I'm not sure if I’m staying or going, but if I do end up going I think I have to push myself at the very highest level."

He added: "When you play for a big club your position is never guaranteed and you have to fight… I'm never guaranteed anywhere I go to start every game. I have to perform. I'm willing to fight. I know it's an important year, it's a big decision, so I'll make a wise decision."

Chelsea have three pivotal matches to go for the rest of the season before a mini-break and then the Club World Cup in June. They have two more Premier League fixtures - a game against Manchester United on Friday and then a trip to Nottingham Forest on the final day of the top-flight season.

They then have three days to prepare for the Conference League final against Real Betis in Wroclaw.
