The Suprem Court has rejected the bail plea of ​​businessman Harpreet Talwar Singh arrested in the drug smuggling case at Mundra port. During the hearing on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, the court allowed him to apply for bail again after six months. The case is to drug trafficking of Rs 21,000 crore, in which Harpreet Talwar Singh, also known as Kabir Talwar, was arrested. A bench of Justice Suryakant and Justice N. Kotishwar Singh has allowed the accused to re -apply for bail.

The bench termed the charge of financing terrorism on Harpreet Talwar as immature and directed the special court to hold a hearing twice a month to complete the hearing of the case. On April 23, 2025, the Supreme Court reserved its decision on the bail plea.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) had earlier stated that the money received from the sale was used in the financing of Lashkar-e-Taiba’s terrorist activities. In this case, Harpreet Talwar, who operated some clubs in the national capital, was arrested by the agency in August 2022.

Drug trafficking of Rs 21,000 crore at Mundra port is seen as the country’s largest drug trafficking. On September 12, 2021, some containers reached Mundra port from Afghanistan via Iran, which included bags filled with semi-processed talking stones.

Investigators also discovered that this was the sixth and final consignment that was stopped. Many people, including Afghan citizens, were arrested in this case.
