Actress Chen Xiuhuan and her eldest daughter, Shanisse Tsai, recently visited South Korea’s Jeju Island to celebrate Mother’s Day.

“This has to be the most precious and moving Mother’s Day gift I’ve ever received,” Chen wrote on social media on May 11, when the special day was celebrated this year.

The mother-daughter duo traveled across Jeju Island, from its coast to the mountains. The veteran actress praised her daughter for finding a beautiful and comfortable Airbnb and planning a barbecue night for them.

Jeju, famed for its natural beauty, relaxed pace of life, and unique culture, has long been a favorite destination for both domestic and international travelers.

The island operates a visa-waiver program to boost tourism, allowing nationals from 111 countries and territories, including Singapore, to enter without a visa. Under this policy, foreign tourists can stay on the island for up to 30 days but are not permitted to travel to other parts of South Korea.

Chen started her acting career at the age of 18 after attending the Singapore Broadcasting Corporation’s drama training course. Her role in the fantasy drama “Star Maiden,” starring opposite Wang Yuqing, propelled her to stardom in 1988.

She married Fred Tsai Yi-peng, a Taiwanese businessman, in 1997.
