Lee Min Young, known for her role in “Medical Brothers”, has lived alone for 19 years since her marriage ended just 12 days in, after her husband assaulted her during their honeymoon, causing injuries and a miscarriage.
In a recent appearance on the SBS Plus program “Because I’m Solo”, the 49-year-old actress said: “I’m happy living alone.”
“When I was younger, I imagined myself as a devoted wife and mother. I think My family feels uneasy seeing me alone and hopes I’ll remarry someday.”
For years, Lee has kept a low profile. While some have introduced potential partners, none of these relationships progressed. The actress confessed: “I met one or two people, but it wasn’t easy.”

Lee’s marriage to actor Lee Chan lasted only 12 days. The couple wed in December 2006 after co-starring in “Precious Family”, but their honeymoon turned tragic when Lee was violently assaulted by her husband. The attack left her with a broken nose, a concussion, multiple bruises, and resulted in a miscarriage. She underwent two hours of reconstructive surgery for her injuries.
Despite the incident, Lee found herself the subject of harmful rumors, which added to her suffering. “There were so many rumors, I didn’t even know where to begin addressing them,” she recalled. “I was young and not emotionally strong enough to speak out clearly. I just let things happen and retreated inward.”
Following a long period of recovery and withdrawal from the public eye, Lee eventually returned to acting. She now focuses on staying healthy through regular exercise and continues to work in film and television.
Lee Chan was later prosecuted for the assault in 2008 and received a one-year prison sentence, suspended for two years, along with 240 hours of community service. In 2010 he remarried and had a child, while Lee has remained single.
Lee Min Young is also known for her roles in dramas “The Rules of Marriage,” “Kimchi Family,” “Lovers,” and “Korea-Khitan War.”
