A British pensioner who collapsed during a swim in a pool while on holiday in is fighting for his life in .
The man, 77, is said to have passed out during the trip to the and was saved when a lifeguard came to his rescue and gave him first aid, thankfully managing to bring him back to life. The pensioner is currently in a critical condition in the intensive care unit of Venizelio Hospital. The incident is said to have caused a "massive commotion" at the Heraklion hotel, where he was enjoying a break in the sunshine.

The incident came a day after it was reported a British holidaymaker was in a critical condition in Crete a which fell from a building. The 49-year-old was on holiday with his wife when strong gales shifted a section of the balcony, according to local media reports.
The Brit was quickly rushed to the Venizelio Hospital after suffering horrific injuries following the freak accident in Hersonissos. He was taken into surgery upon arrival and medics had to remove his spleen.
He needed a second operation after suffering head injuries, the hospital's director Kostas Dandoulakis revealed. He also suffered an injury to his spine, which has left him a critical condition, local reports said. Local police opened a preliminary investigation into the incident.
Last year a British tourist died after "feeling unwell" following a off the shore. The 71-year-old woman got into difficulty in the water off the southern coast of the Greek island of Crete on Sunday. She fell unwell after entering the water and, though she successfully reached the shore, her condition deteriorated.
The tourist collapsed and was rushed to hospital, but paramedics were unable to save the woman. Emergency responders were dispatched to the scene, near Agia Galini in Crete, after she fell ill, local media understands.
A preliminary investigation is now being conducted by the local Port Authority of Agia Galini to determine the circumstances surrounding her death. Her death was officially pronounced at Rethymnon Hospital, where the woman was sent in an ambulance on Sunday.
