Udhampur: Following days of increased tension, a recent truce between India and Pakistan has allowed life in the Udhampur area of Jammu and Kashmir to gradually return to normal. The reopening of government and private schools after a five- to six-day closure due to safety concerns was one of the main indicators of normality.

Udhampur morning images showed uniformed youngsters eager to go back to class as they continued their studies without any further interruptions. Residents are relieved that school has resumed, signaling a return to regularity after a time of uncertainty.

“After four to five days, Brahmrishi Bawra Shanti Vidya Peeth School, which I go to, has reopened. The return of courses makes me quite joyful. Everyone was in a panic because of the growing tension between India and Pakistan, yet we need a place where we can concentrate on our studies. I’m pleased that everything is under control now,” Palak Sharma said.

Because of the continuous tension between India and Pakistan, our school has been closed for the last four or five days. However, we are now at last returning to school. After a lengthy absence, I’m thrilled to be back with my classmates. Samragi, a student at Brahmrishi Bawra Shanti Vidya Peeth School in Udhampur, said, “I’m also thankful to the Indian Army, as they made sure we were safe and helped us get back to normal.”

In the meanwhile, the education department here said on Wednesday that all public and private schools in the districts of Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, and Samba will be closed today.

The agency claims the decision was made as a preventative measure. The Directorate’s directive gave no particular explanation for the closure.

The government and private schools in the Udhampur district, as well as those in the Kathua district’s Bani, Basholi, Mahanpur, Bhaddu, Malhar, and Billawar zones, would all be open on the same day.

Tomorrow, May 14, 2025, all government and private schools in the districts of Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch, and Samba will be closed. However, the department stated in an official statement that all government and private schools in the districts of Udhampur and Bani, Basholi, Mahanpur, Bhaddu, Malhar, and Billawar in the districts of Kathua will reopen tomorrow, May 14, 2025. India’s precision strikes on terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and PoJK followed the Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 26 lives.

More than 100 terrorists were slain in Operation Sindoor, and the government had promised harsh retribution for the offenders.

Pakistan’s ensuing military assault was successfully repulsed by the Indian Armed Forces, who also bombarded many Pakistani airbases.

After Pakistan’s DGMO contacted his Indian counterpart, the two nations finally agreed to cease military action and fire.
