Aadhaar card has become the identity of every Indian citizen today! From government schemes to banking and mobile SIMS, the Aadhaar number has become necessary everywhere. But if the mobile number or address in your Aadhaar is wrong or has changed, then it becomes necessary to update it.

No limit to changing the mobile number in Aadhaar

According to the guidelines of UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India), you can update the mobile number in your Aadhaar as many times as you want. No limit has been set for this. For example, if you have taken a new mobile number or the old number has been closed, then you can update the new number in your Aadhaar.
 

To update the mobile number, you will have to go to the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra or CSC. No document is required for this; only your biometric verification is required. There is a fee of ₹50 for updating the mobile number. This is an easy and necessary process.

Rules for changing the address in Aadhaar

UIDAI has set some limits in terms of updating the address. You can update the address in your Aadhaar card online a maximum of twice and offline once. However, if you have a valid reason and sufficient documents, this limit can be increased in special circumstances. So, keep these rules in mind while changing the address.

Documents required to change the address in Aadhaar

UIDAI has approved 44 types of valid address proof documents for address update. Some of the main documents are as follows:

Passport

Bank statement/passbook

Electricity/water/gas bill (not more than three months old)

A letter issued by the post office

Rent agreement (registered by the government)

An easy way to update the mobile number and address in Aadhaar

Online update: You can update the address by logging in to the UIDAI website (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in). For this, your mobile number must be linked to Aadhaar. The online process is quite convenient if your mobile number is registered.

Offline update: Go to the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra and fill the form and submit the documents. The offline method is good for those whose mobile number is not linked to Aadhaar or who face difficulty in the online process.

How to update the mobile number in Aadhaar

Go to the nearest Aadhaar Seva Kendra.

Fill the Aadhaar update/correction form.

Enter your old mobile number and new number.

Biometric verification (fingerprint/iris) will be done for your identity.

A fee of ₹50 will be charged.

You will get an acknowledgement slip for the update request, which will contain the URN (Update Request Number).
