In today's era, news reaches all of us very fast. Sometimes a message comes on WhatsApp, sometimes big news goes viral on social media. But we mustn't believe any news without thinking, especially when that news is shocking or scary. Whenever you see such news, instead of believing it directly, it is necessary to fact-check it.
Fact-check suspicious news.
Any news on which there is even a little doubt, its fact check must be done. It often happens that viral news is a rumor or is based on wrong information. These rumors spread fear, hatred, or misunderstanding among people.
PIB Fact Check: Know the truth of government news
If any government scheme, new rule, or any news related to the government is going viral and you doubt it, then you can verify it with PIB Fact Check. This is the official fact-check platform of the Government of India, which tells which news is correct and which is fake.
Google Fact Check Tools
Google also provides a special Fact Check Explorer tool for fact-checking. Here you can know the truth of any viral news or photo. You just have to type the title of the news or some keywords, and Google extracts the information from fact-checking websites.
Avoid viral messages on WhatsApp.
When a message has 'Forwarded Many Times' written on it, understand that this message has been sent to a lot of people, and its authenticity may be doubtful. Do not forward such messages without checking. WhatsApp is not a news channel or a university.
