By enabling Premium members to make song requests via voice commands, Spotify is significantly improving its AI DJ function. In contrast to the past passive experience based just on listening habits, users may now vocally direct the AI-powered DJ to play certain artists, genres, or moods.
When utilizing the AI DJ, users may access the new function by pressing and holding the “DJ” button located in the bottom-right corner of the Spotify app. Users may voice their requests after a brief beep, such as “Surprise me with some indie tracks I’ve never heard before” or “Play me some electronic beats for a midday run.”
Prior to this update, there was no actual input required; the DJ button only shuffled your current music. According to Spotify, users may now customize their sessions by choosing an artist, mood, or even a funny request like “Play me music that fits my life as a movie.”
The AI Playlist function on Spotify, which was unveiled in beta last year and curates playlists based on text inputs, serves as the model for the voice-activated DJ. Building on that innovation, the most recent upgrade offers a more personalized music experience by fusing natural speech interaction with AI curation.
There is one significant drawback, though: at this time, voice input is the sole method of making requests. Speaking on your phone may not be the best option in quiet or public places, so this might be inconvenient.
Nevertheless, the feature emphasizes Spotify’s efforts to use AI to further personalize content, giving music fans a more engaging and immersive experience.
