A distressing incident has emerged from Gevrai, located in Maharashtra's Beed district, where a 5-year-old girl was discovered confined by her father in an animal shed following her mother's death. This alarming situation has sparked significant concerns regarding child welfare and the necessity for mental health awareness.

After the loss of her mother, the girl was placed in her father's care, who mistakenly believed she was suffering from mental health issues. Instead of seeking appropriate medical assistance, he resorted to tying her up in a shed and providing her with only banana peels and watermelon scraps, neglecting her basic needs for food, affection, and care.

The girl's plight came to light when a nearby resident heard her cries emanating from the shed. Following the sound, she discovered the child bound with ropes and in a state of distress. Acting swiftly, she untied the girl and took her to safety.

The child was subsequently taken to the Khalid Ahmed Orphanage near Hina Sheikh Hajj House in Gevrai. The staff at the orphanage promptly alerted the police and the Child Welfare Committee. The girl has been admitted to a hospital for necessary medical care and is now receiving proper attention.
