Here’s some big news for government job aspirants in Uttar Pradesh! The Yogi Adityanath-led state government is set to begin a massive recruitment drive in the Revenue Department, filling over 9,600 vacant posts across several key positions including Lekhpal, Nayab Tehsildar, and Revenue Clerk roles.
The decision to kickstart recruitment comes as part of the government’s initiative to speed up land-related matters and improve public service delivery. With thousands of posts lying vacant for years, the recruitment process will help in bringing efficiency and better governance to revenue-related tasks.
During a recent review meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed officials to launch a special recruitment campaign to fill these long-pending vacancies. Following his instructions, proposals have been forwarded to the concerned selection commissions to initiate the process.
Let’s take a detailed look at the positions being filled:
Commission: Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSSC)
These are the highest number of vacancies in this drive.
The total sanctioned strength for Lekhpal positions is around 30,837, out of which these 7,531 positions have remained vacant for several years.
Commission: Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC)
Currently, there are 1,234 sanctioned posts of Nayab Tehsildar in the state.
These posts are considered crucial for managing land records, disputes, and administrative functions at the tehsil level.
Of these:
2,938 posts will be filled through promotion from within the department.
1,756 posts will be filled through direct recruitment.
The Revenue Board has already begun the promotion process, while the proposal for direct recruitment has been submitted to the concerned recruitment commission.
The large-scale recruitment is expected to address the staff shortage in revenue offices across the state, which has been impacting land registration, mutation, inheritance, and dispute resolution processes.
Filling these posts is also a step toward digitalization of land records, implementation of paperless governance, and faster public grievance redressal related to property disputes.
Job seekers in UP should begin preparing for competitive exams conducted by UPSSSC and UPPSC. Since Lekhpal and Nayab Tehsildar are popular positions among candidates with graduate degrees and knowledge of rural development or land revenue systems, the competition is expected to be high.
