Vietnam Airlines will move all remaining domestic flights to Terminal T3 at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City starting Saturday, officials announced on Wednesday.

The transition follows a successful 20-day trial period, during which Vietnam Airlines operated domestic routes between Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi, as well as between Ho Chi Minh City and Van Don, from the newly inaugurated terminal.

Domestic flights operated by Vietjet Air, Pacific Airlines, Vasco, Vietravel Airlines and Bamboo Airways, along with Vietnam Airlines’ ATR72 flights to Con Dao, Ca Mau and Rach Gia, will continue operating from Terminal T1 after Saturday.

The move aims to optimize airport operations, enhance passenger experience and streamline check-in and baggage-handling procedures. Passengers traveling during the transition are encouraged to closely follow airline and airport announcements for updated details regarding check-in counters and boarding gates.

Opened officially on April 19, Terminal T3 is a significant infrastructure investment worth nearly VND11 trillion ($430 million). Designed to handle up to 20 million passengers annually, the terminal can serve around 7,000 passengers per peak hour.

The state-of-the-art facility includes one basement and four above-ground floors, covering 112,500 square meters. It features 90 standard check-in counters, 20 self-service baggage-drop counters and 42 automated check-in kiosks, all integrated with advanced technologies and Vietnam’s national population database.

Additional facilities at Terminal T3 include a multi-storey parking garage offering non-aviation services, an extensive aircraft apron, and a newly developed elevated road network to ensure smooth and efficient passenger flow.
