A dramatic explosion in Matson, Gloucester, has sent a towering jet of water approximately 100ft skywards after a water main burst on Wednesday, drenching nearby properties and cutting off some residents' water supply.
The spectacular burst occurred near Sneedhams Green in Gloucester, creating an aerial spectacle that has resulted in localised flooding on Sneedhams Road.
One property beside the leak received a relentless soaking from the high-velocity stream, while authorities moved swiftly to mitigate the disruption.
Severn Trent Water has reported distributing bottled water supplies to those affected and dispatched engineering teams to address the situation posthaste.
The community breathed a collective sigh of relief as the water flow was halted shortly before 2pm, leading to a spontaneous round of applause from the gathered crowd.
A spokesman for Severn Trent expressed gratitude for the community's patience, stating: "We want to thank local people and customers for their patience as our teams continue to manage a burst pipe in Matson."
They added: "We are liaising directly with anyone impacted by the burst, which is on one of our bigger pipes.
"Our teams have been working hard to carefully manage the flow of water, including having tankers in the area, and the good news is everyone is on supply."
