Actress Kruttika Desai , who plays the sharp and manipulative Bua Maa in Meri Bhavya Life , has opened up about the deeply rooted issue of body shaming , particularly its disproportionate impact on women. Produced under the Sphereorigins banner, the show addresses societal biases with bold storytelling and layered characters.

Sharing her thoughts, Kruttika stated, “Women are victims of body shaming far more than men. It's so true, it doesn't even require an answer. Men feel they can look as they want, but a girl has to be slim, fair, beautiful, tall, have long thick hair, have big eyes, be educated, be soft-spoken, be submissive, etc.”

Kruttika believes her show holds a mirror to society and aims to challenge these unrealistic standards. “A change in attitude is bound to follow,” she added, expressing hope that Meri Bhavya Life will trigger meaningful conversations around appearance-based judgment.

The actress is pleased with the audience’s reception of the show. “The audience likes the theme; they feel it's different—but also it has been treated in a subtle yet glaring, in-your-face kind of way,” she shared.

Speaking about her character, Kruttika said, “Bua Maa contributes to the story by basically showing the negative responses that the girl (Bhavya) faces. It highlights them and shows how they can be dealt with in a positive way.”

When asked what lies ahead, Kruttika teased, “The coming episodes will show how these challenges are thrown at the girl and how she grows stronger and more confident instead of being cowered down.”

With her performance and the show’s message, Kruttika Desai hopes to be part of a much-needed shift in how society views women and beauty.
