Mumbai: A disturbing incident has been reported from Maharashtra’s Beed district, where a man claimed that his daughter was mentally unstable. Therefore, he kept her tied with ropes and confined near an animal enclosure. Meanwhile, a police investigation revealed further distressing details of the case, which took place in Gevrai town.
According to police, the accused fed his daughter a banana and watermelon peels. They said the father was a drug addict and had been absconding since the incident was reported. The girl had lost her mother and had been living with her father since then.
The matter came to light on May 13 when a woman in the neighbourhood heard screams from a cowshed. When she followed the noise, it led her to a room where other animals were tied. There, she found the minor girl.
Hina Sheikh, the neighbour, rescued the girl and took her to Khalid Ahmed’s orphanage near Haj House.
Seeing the child in a poor condition, the orphanage immediately informed the Child Welfare Committee and had her sent to a hospital for treatment. An investigation has been launched, and police have begun a search to trace the accused father.
