On Monday, Kohli announced his retirement from Test cricket, capping an incredible career in which he amassed 9,230 runs in 123 games, including a remarkable 30 hundreds and 31 fifties.

After Graeme Smith (53 victories), Ricky Ponting (48 wins), and Steve Waugh (41 wins), he became the fourth most successful Test skipper overall.

After Rahul Dravid (36), Sunil Gavaskar (34), and Sachin Tendulkar (51 hundreds), Kohli is the fourth-most successful Indian batsman with 30 Test hundreds. Additionally, Kohli achieved the most Test double hundreds of any Indian, with seven.

The 36-year-old Indian great and Anderson had a fierce rivalry that resulted in many memorable fights. He fell to the England great seven times despite scoring 305 runs at an average of 43.57 in 36 innings.

“Excellent athletes. Sharma has retired; thus, a new captain will take over. One of the best Test batsmen in history is Virat Kohli. They have a lot of skill on their team, but they have enormous shoes to fill. All you need to do is watch the IPL. Anderson said on TalkSport, “They are now bringing players from the IPL who are just so attacking, aggressive, and fearless into Test cricket.”

Shortly after Rohit Sharma unexpectedly announced that he was ending his career in the longest format, Kohli made his choice.
