Starring opposite Rajiv Kapoor this actress grabbed a lot of eyeballs for her beauty screen presence and her impeccable acting skills. She was hailed as the next big thing but little did we know that soon she would be pulled out of films last minute. Entering the industry in 80s  at a time when Poonam Dhillon Meenakshi Sheshadri and many other hit actresses were dominating the industry Mandakini came and became an overnight sensation. She shared that once she shot for 10 days and the film got called off without warning even the makers didnt have any heads up. Born as Yamin Josephin in Meerut Mandakini was born in a mixed heritage; her father was British while her mother was Kashmiri. Mandakini got married to a former Buddhist monk Dr. Kagyur T. Rinpoche Thakur and embraced Buddhism. . The couple has a son named Rabbil and a daughter Rabze Innaya. Making her debut with Raj Kapoors Ram Teri Ganga Maili Ho Gayi Raj Kapoor not only gave her her careers first film but also her stage name - Mandakini.
