England have some big games coming up in international cricket. There have also been some new recruitments within the management ahead of these fixtures. The latest addition to the coaching and management staff is the former New Zealand legendary pacer, , who will be joining England's men's team as a Specialist Skills Consultant on a short-term basis.
The 36-year-old legendary Kiwi player retired from international cricket in December and has joined the team ahead of a very busy international schedule. Southee will be providing his expertise starting from the one-off Test against Zimbabwe, followed by the five-match Test series against India, which begins on 20 June.
He will then return to his duties as a player in The Hundred Men's competition, representing the Birmingham Phoenix in the franchise tournament. The and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) announced his recruitment on social media as well.
“Our new Specialist Skills Consultant. We're delighted to announce that Tim Southee, New Zealand’s all-time leading wicket-taker, is joining us on a short-term basis,” the ECB posted on their official 'X' handle.

The former New Zealand skipper has played 394 international games in which he has taken 776 wickets at an average of 29.57. He has been part of three World Cup finals and played a huge role in the Kiwis winning the inaugural WTC title.
His record in Test cricket is incredible as well, where he has played 107 matches and taken 391 wickets at an average of 30.26, with 15 five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket haul to his name. This makes him the second-highest wicket-taker for New Zealand in Test cricket, only behind Kiwi stalwart Sir Richard Hadlee.
