Author Colleen Hoover has shot up the bestseller lists in recent years, and in 2022 her books even sold more copies than the Bible. With numerous books making their way onto the bestseller lists simultaneously, last year also saw the release of the film adaptation of her popular novel It Ends With Us, starring Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni.
A number of her other books also have film adaptations in the works, with Verity and Regretting You both set to be released within the next couple of years. When not writing or attending premieres for these adaptations, Colleen is a big reader. As part of Goodreads 10th anniversary celebrations back in 2017, she shared her 10 favourite books.
Starting off her list, Colleen named Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein as one of her all-time favourites. This book, which has over a million ratings on Goodreads, is a collection of Silverstein's poetry alongside several of his drawings.
Next on her list was Judy Blume's In the Unlikely Event. While this is the only title from Judy to make the list, Colleen is known to be a big fan of her works and shared a photo on Facebook with the caption "Oh, just meeting my HERO!" after meeting the author back in 2023.
Colleen also recommended Hidden Bodies by Caroline Kepnes, the sequel to her bestselling You. Hidden Bodies also served the basis of the second series of Netflix adaptation of You.
Next on the list was The Japanese Lover by Isabel Allende, which tells the tragic wartime love story between a Polish woman and a Japanese American in the aftermath of the Nazi Invasion of Poland.
Colleen also named The Sea of Tranquility by Katja Millay, a popular YA novel that was published back in 2012.
Rounding off her list was Easy by Tammara Webber, Every Day by David Levithan, The Andy Cohen Diaries: A Deep Look at a Shallow Year by Andy Cohen, Galapagos by Kurt Vonnegut, and Me Before You by Jojo Moyes.
