After the all-time blockbusters like 3 Idiots (2009) and PK (2014), Aamir Khan is reuniting with filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani for a biopic on the life of the father of Indian cinema — Dadasaheb Phalke.
The official synopsis of the biopic reads, “Set against the backdrop of independence struggle, the story unfolds an extraordinary journey of an artist, who from scratch, against all odds, goes on to give birth to the largest indigenous film industry in the world.”
The film is all set to go on floors by October 2025 and Aamir Khan is expected to begin prep work after the release of Sitaare Zameen Par on June 20, 2025.
Moreover, VFX studios from LA have already generated AI designs for that era and period.

The film is written by Rajkumar Hirani, Abhijat Joshi, Hindukush bharadwaj and Avishkar Bharadwaj. The four writers worked on the script for four years.
Chandrashekhar Srikrishna Pusalkar, the grandson of Dadasaheb Phalke has also been attached with the film as a consultant who has helped the makers with several unknown details about the life of the father of Indian cinema.
Interestingly, a recent unconfirmed report claimed that SS Rajamouli’s son SS Kartikeya is producing another biopic on Dadasaheb Phalke starring NTR Jr.
Well, Aamir Khan has trumped NTR Jr as far as the biopic is concerned.
While Aamir is starting the film in next six months, there is no official update on the reported film starring NTR Jr.
