Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav has stirred controversy with remarks regarding Wing Commander Vyomika Singh's caste, igniting a political uproar. Yadav admitted he was unaware of who Vyomika Singh was or her caste, nor did he know about Air Marshal A.K. Bharti. He stated that had he known, he would have insulted Bharti as well. Yadav mentioned that Vyomika Singh belongs to the 'Jatav Chamar' community from Haryana, while Air Marshal A.K. Bharti is from the Yadav community in Purnia. He claimed that all three individuals were from the PDA segment, with one being insulted due to assumptions about their religion, while another was not addressed due to a lack of knowledge.
Yadav's comments were made in response to a controversial statement by Madhya Pradesh Minister Vijay Shah regarding Colonel Sofia Qureshi. However, Yadav now finds himself in hot water as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has retaliated. On social media, he stated that the army's uniform should not be viewed through a caste lens. Every soldier in the Indian Army serves the 'national duty' and does not represent any caste or religion. By tying a brave daughter to the confines of caste, the national general secretary of the Samajwadi Party not only showcases his party's narrow-mindedness but also disrespects the valor of the army and the dignity of the nation.
Yogi further remarked that this mentality attempts to divide patriotism through appeasement and vote bank politics. The public will respond to this distorted casteist thinking. Meanwhile, following the success of Operation Sindoor, celebrations are underway across the country, with the BJP organizing a Tiranga Yatra. In response, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav criticized the BJP, stating that celebrations are typically held for victories, not for mere 'understanding.' He questioned whom the BJP considers foolish, asserting that they aim to mislead the public, but the people are aware and will teach them a lesson. The BJP cannot escape accountability and must ensure the safety of our nation's borders.
