How much luggage can be carried in which coach of the train? Is there a fine for excess weight?

Luggage Rules In Train: People traveling in Indian trains carry more luggage than required. But do you know that you may have to pay a fine for extra luggage.

Train also acts as a lifeline for many people. It carries millions of people from one place to another in the country. There are all types of coaches on the train. It is usually seen that people travel with excess luggage in the train, but do you know that there are some rules for carrying luggage in the train? Railways also take action against passengers who do not follow them. Let's find out.

Talking about AC coach, there is a limit for carrying luggage for those traveling in it. If you are traveling in first class, then you can carry up to 70 kg of luggage.

On the other hand, if you have chosen second class compartment, then you are allowed to carry only 50 kg of luggage. Apart from this, you can carry 10 kg of extra weight.

Those travelling in third AC can carry luggage upto 40 kgs. Apart from this, 10 kgs extra is allowed.

But if you carry more luggage than this, you have to pay extra charge.

Apart from this, those travelling in sleeper can carry 40 kgs of luggage and can keep 10 kgs extra luggage.

On the other hand, those travelling in general coach are allowed to carry luggage upto 35 kgs.

But if you carry more luggage than the limit, TT can impose a fine. For this, you may have to pay six times the fine.
