Online criticism over AI-generated photos of singer Billie Eilish attending the 2025 Met Gala has been voiced.

Eilish, who wasn’t even present at the event, chuckled at the unfavorable comments in a video that she posted on her Instagram Story.
“I wasn’t present. As she ate an ice cream cone, Eilish said, “That’s AI.”

“That evening, I performed in Europe. Leave me alone! I wasn’t present at all. As part of her ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’ tour, the singer was playing in Amsterdam on May 5, the same day as the Met Gala.
Similar phony photos of her attending the Met Gala were previously addressed by another artist Katy Perry, who said in the caption of a photo that she “couldn’t make it to the MET” and mentioned her own tour schedule.

According to E! News, Eilish added, “Seeing people talk about what I wore to this year’s Met Gala being trash… I wasn’t there!,” in response to criticism of her purported Met Gala ensemble.

The Costume Institute’s spring show, ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,’ which examines the idea of dandyism and its influence on Black fashion from the 18th century to the present, was honored at the 2025 Met Gala.

‘Tailored for You,’ the event’s dress code, urged guests to be creative with their tailoring and suit choices.
