subscribers are just discovering a "massively underrated" Guy Ritchie series on the streaming platform - and it's been branded "absolutely brilliant". Starring legend Rupert Grint, who played Ron Weasley in the famous films based on 's novels, the series has proved a hit with fans who devoured Ritchie's The Gentlemen.
Available to stream now on Netflix, the series is Snatch. Though Ritchie wasn't directly involved in making the series, he is the creative genius behind the film of the same name, which the TV adaptation is based on. The TV version ran from 2017 until 2018, and follows a gang of "up and coming hustlers" who accidentally discover a truck full of stolen gold bars.
Thrust into the shady world of organised crime with no experience, the gang are clearly unprepared for the high stakes in the comedy drama, which ran for two seasons.
It stars Rupert Grint as Charlie, Luca Pasqualino as Albert and Lucien Laviscount as Billy. Bridgerton icon Phoebe Dynevor - daughter to Coronation Street's Sally Dynevor - also appears in all 20 episodes as Lotti, while Band of Brothers star Marc Warren pops up as Fink and Game of Thrones actor Ian Gelder plays Norman.
The show is based on the 2000 Guy Ritchie film starring Jason Statham, which takes many of its style choices and motifs from Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. The original movie grossed £12million in the UK, and made $30.3m in the US and Canada.
On IMDb, Ritchie is credited for the TV series, with the site stating it is "based on characters by" the Sherlock Holmes director.
Reviews branded the TV adaptation "great fun", with one reviewer writing: "I love it - proper British show, although I agree it's not as witty as the original film by Guy Ritchie. The characters and constant chaos make it a really fun watch. Up there with Brassic in my humble opinion!"
Another echoed: "Absolutely brilliant, we need more! Hope there's a season three in the works." While another hopefully posted: "Great and quite funny in places, can't wait for season three."
