Russia reportedly threatened Ukraine with "eternal war" during peace talks betwen the nations in Istanbul. cited a source in the Kyiv delegation who said the Russians were not prepared to discuss technical aspects of a ceasefire, instead waiting for superiors to approve them.
A Ukrainian source also said Russia made "unrealistic" at the meeting in Turkey where the nations agreed to a prisoner of war swap. Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky, who is at a summit in Albania, spoke with Donald Trump over the phone, alongside European leaders including Sir Keir Starmer. He wrote on social media: "Ukraine is ready to take the fastest possible steps to bring real peace, and it is important that the world holds a strong stance. Our position - if the Russians reject a full and unconditional ceasefire and an end to killings, tough sanctions must follow. Pressure on Russia must be maintained until Russia is ready to end the war. Thank you to everyone in the world who is helping."
