Jarred Shaw, a former college basketball player, is in serious trouble in Indonesia. Shaw is 34 years old and played for Oklahoma State and Utah State in college. He also played a short time in the NBA G-League, according to reports.

Shaw was arrested this week in Jakarta, the capital of Indonesia. Police found a parcel sent from Thailand with 132 cannabis candies, which means drugs. The candies had Delta-9 THC, which is a chemical found in marijuana.

Police say Shaw ordered the candies and was planning to share them with other basketball players in Indonesia, according to reports.

Police chief Ronald FC Sipayung said the Soekarno-Hatta Airport Police Narcotics Unit handled the case. If Shaw is found guilty, he could get life in prison or even the death penalty, as per USA Today report.

Officer Michael Tandayu, head of the airport’s narcotics unit, said Shaw will be charged for selling candies, buying them, acting as a middleman, and giving or receiving narcotics These charges have a minimum punishment of six years in jail.

Indonesia is very strict about drugs, they executed drug criminals by firing squad as recently as 2016. Shaw was playing for the Tangerang Hawks, a team in the Indonesian Basketball League.

But the IBL said Shaw’s contract was canceled because he broke club rules, according to the reports.

The Hawks manager, Tikky Suwantikno, said they regret what happened and are taking it very seriously. The Indonesian Basketball Association PERBASI chairman Budisatrio Djiwandono said they will not tolerate drug use by their players, officials, court staff or anyone else involved.
