Jhanak New Cast after leap: Things are about to change in Star Plus' popular show as the makers are all set to introduce a generation leap.

It seems the leap is the favorite 'Brahmastra' of Indian TV industry. Shows like Parineetii, Megha Barsege are set to take a generation leap, while Kumkum Bhagya has already witnessed a time jump to spice up the viewership.

WHY WAS JHANAK LEAP POSTPONED?

Internet is flooded with speculations about the upcoming leap in Jhanak. What can you expect from Star Plus when the numbers of a show go down? Leap, leap, cast change or new track- these are the tactics that the channel uses to increase the ratings.

Filmibeat has been at the forefront when it comes to sharing updates related to Jhanak. We were the first portal to confirm that Star Plus had postponed the leap in the show due to competition from IPL 2025.

"IPL 2025 will affect the ratings of all the Hindi TV shows. It is a major risk to introduce new faces a month before IPL 2025 starts. The channel has decided to introduce the leap at the right time. Whether Jhanak cast will be retained for the next three months or not remains to be seen. An official confirmation is yet to be made. No decision about the extension of the current storyline has been taken yet," a source earlier told Filmibeat in February 2025.

WHY JHANAK LEAP IS HAPPENING? REAL REASON IS...

"The channel and the production house have made their mind to introduce a generation leap after IPL 2025. Star Plus has issued a diktat to the production house to increase the ratings or shut shop. Jhanak is doing well in terms of ratings at 10:30pm slot; however, the channel is unhappy with the numbers. They want the show to generate at least 2 TVR at the late night slot. One has to consider that shows like Jaadu Teri Nazar, Anupamaa and Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai have also witnessed a massive drop in their viewership. It seems the channel is only focusing on Jhanak, which is a bit unfair," an industry source told Filmibeat on condition of anonymity.

Star Plus is strict when it comes to ratings. The channel issues a diktat to the production house when the TRPs go below the desired mark. Something similar is happening with Jhanak. Hiba Nawab and Krushal Ahuja's exit has been confirmed from the serial.

If the latest buzz is to be believed, Erica Fernandes and Riya Sharma are in the race to play the new lead in Jhanak. They are reportedly locked for the show, where they might be seen as sisters. According to Gossip TV's tweet, Zohaib Siddiqui is expected to play the male protagonist in the serial.

While there's no official confirmation about the new cast of Jhanak, gossip mills suggest that Erica Fernandes is being considered to lead the show. If she signs the dotted lines, she will make her comeback to the small screen after Kuch Rang Pyaar Ke Aise Bhi season 3.

Interestingly, Erica Fernandes played the lead role of Prerna in Kasautii Zindagii Kay 2, where she was paired opposite Parth Samthaan. The show aired on Star Plus.
