The Lusail Sports Arena will host the 2025 World Table Tennis Championships. Sreeja Akula, Sathiyan Gnanasekaran, Sutirtha, and Ayhika Mukherjee are among the players in the Indian table tennis team competing at the World Championships.
In the two singles tournaments, India will have four players. The top-ranked Indian singles player in the competition is Sreeja Akula, ranked 34th in the world. In the women’s singles draw, she will be joined by world No. 46 Manika Batra and the promising pair of Diya Chitale and Yashaswini Ghorpade.
In contrast, the top-ranked Indian in the men’s singles section is Manav Thakkar, who is placed 49th in the world. Manush Shah, G Sathiyan, and the youthful Ankur Bhattacharjee are also on the list of applicants. Manush Shah and Diya Chitale are ranked ninth in the mixed doubles division, while Manush Shah and Manav Thakkar are ranked eighth in the men’s doubles division.
The singles and doubles tournaments will start with the round of 128 and 64, respectively, of the tournament, which ends on May 25. Some of the top table tennis players in the world will compete in the 58th edition of the biannual competition, the World Championships in Doha, this year.
Players from the People’s Republic of China have been dominating the competition lately; in the last tournament, held in Durban, South Africa, they won all five titles. During the first World Table Tennis Championships in 1926, Indian participants only managed one triumph.
