The Bihar Cabinet has approved 69 recommendations, including 50 lakh as an ex-gratia to the relatives of the victims of Operation Sindoor

The Patna At a meeting on Friday at the Cabinet Secretariat’s Central Hall, the Bihar Cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, adopted 69 important recommendations in a significant policy decision.

The choices include everything from infrastructure development and employment perks to paying tribute to national leaders and cultural heritage.

The state Cabinet approved a cash compensation of Rs 50 lakh to the families of soldiers martyred in Operation Sindoor, marking a significant gesture of respect and solidarity from the state government, according to S. Siddhartha, Additional Chief Secretary of the Cabinet Secretariat, who shared the information after the meeting.

In honor of the late senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi, the state Cabinet announced that the anniversary of his birth on January 5 would henceforth be observed annually as an official state event.

The state Cabinet has also agreed to rename the Gaya district to ‘Gaya Ji’, recognizing the area’s spiritual and historical importance as a site connected to Lord Vishnu and Lord Buddha, in response to a long-standing popular demand.

The state Cabinet authorized a raise in Dearness Allowance (DA) under the Seventh Pay Commission from 53% to 55%, which is a significant relief to nearly 5 lakh state government workers and pensioners.

The increase will go into effect on January 1, 2026.

The Kisan Advisor Scheme, which would provide advisers an honorarium of Rs 13,000 per month or Rs 14,690 per month with Employees’ Provident Fund benefits, was approved by the State Cabinet with a budget of Rs 1,259.5 million.

Madanpur in the Aurangabad district was given Nagar Panchayat status as part of the infrastructural and urban development plans.

The Buxar Sewerage Project received administrative permission for Rs 225.88 crore, the Aurangabad Water Supply Project for Rs 72.44 crore, and the Darbhanga Water Supply Scheme for Rs 186.15 crore.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan was given land by the government on a 30-year lease for school and staff quarters in many districts, including four acres in Devkund (Aurangabad), Buxar, and five acres each in Jiradei (Siwan) and Chhapra.

Through local livelihood organizations, a budget of Rs 33.84 crore per year has been granted to clean block-cum-zonal offices.

These rulings demonstrate the Nitish Kumar administration’s emphasis on administrative reform, rural development, infrastructural growth, public welfare, and educational assistance.
