The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has instructed the telecom companies to present such recharge plans that come only with the convenience of calling and SMS. Such plans will be beneficial for customers who do not need data and who want to recharge only for calling.

Following the orders of TRAI, now companies like Reliance Jio, Airtel, Vodafone Idea (VI) and BSNL are launching in plan markets that provide long validity and basic facilities at a lower price.
