The UK has placed 19th in the 2025 , scoring 88 points. Country-pop trio Remember Monday entered with their upbeat track What the Hell Just Happened?, which fans hailed as an homage to . Austria clinched victory scoring 436 points. The British trio, comprised of Holly-Anne Hull, Charlotte Steele and Lauren Byrne, admitted they'd be "mad" not to do the competition.
Speaking about their track, Lauren told The Independent: "It sort of tells the story of us a little bit too. There have been so many nights like that for us - too many maybe - you know, ending up drunk in tattoo shops getting matching tattoos..."
But throughout they had warnings from past contestants. Years&Years star Olly Alexander received nil points in 2024 with his track Dizzy despite his own international acclaim, and told the girls: "Get a good therapist." Lauren joked in response: "I think everyone should have a therapist. And we do. We're very lucky that we do."
2023 act Mae Muller shared her own experiences in the contest, fuming: "Sorry but they put me up there to sing a song which is meant to be sung with heavy autotune (just the vibe of the song) with no proper background vocals, and I was nervous as hell which didn't help but like they fed me to the LIONSSSS omfg."
Sam Ryder earned the UK's best placement in recent years with his 2022 entry Space Man, placing second place to Ukraine and allowing Liverpool to host the 2023 contest with 466 points.
But the UK hasn't had a winner since 1997, when Katrina and the Waves soared to victory. Before that, Bucks Fizz won in 1981, Brotherhood of Man were victorious in 1976, Lulu won in 1969 and Sandie Shaw in 1967.
This year, Ireland failed to qualify for the grand final at all with its entry Emmy, who entered with the track Laika Party. In 2024, however, Bambie Thug's track Doomsday Blue scored an impressive 278 points - Ireland's highest placement since 2000.
