'Hidden gem' Asian city under 5 hours from UK that's 26C in May

A travel expert has revealed the "hidden gem" and "under the radar" city in a popular tourust country that Brits should consider visiting this year. Selda Bayhan, a senior SunExpress cabin crew member based at , has listed three cities in Turkey that tourists often don't consider visiting.

She says that they should be considered when Brits are planning their trips abroad this year because they have plenty to offer from culture to scenery to history. Popular for British holiday-makers include Istanbul and Cappadocia and Antalya. However, there are plenty of places in this stunning country that tourists don't tend to visit. One of those places, Selda says, is Gaziantep.

This historic city is located in the southern region of , close to the border of Syria. It is known for its fascinating ancient history, interesting museums and scenic parks and is somewhere that those who have visited have enjoyed quite a bit, according to online reviews.

Gaziantep is home to more than two million people, making it quite a large city. Flights to Gaziantep are operated from London Stansted Airport by SunExpress.

Among the top-rated things to do in Gaziantep is thye Zeugma Mosaic Museum, which is the largest mosaic museum in the world. It houses an impressive 1700 m² of mosaics. Tourists have had positive things to say about this attraction.

One Tripadvisor reviewer called it "spectacular" while another said it was "truly tremendous". The second highest rated attraction in this city, according to Tripadvisor reviews, is the Rumkale, which is a ruined fortress on the Euphrates. It is estimated to be thousands of years old.

Meanwhile, there is also Gaziantep Zoo which has received rave reviews as well as the scenic Dulukbaba Tabiat Park.

While Gaziantep isn't located close to a , there are plenty of top-rated hotels in the city that have outdoor pools, meaning you can still soak up the sun here.

And you will likely want to do that as temperatures here can reach 26C in the month of May and even higher in the summer months, when temperatures can reach as high as 36C in July. You will definitely want a pool to dip in when you're here.
